Santa Cruz de la Sierra: a hot week of markets, ruins, and sand dunes

Santa Cruz runs on heat, traffic, and local Spanish, so this week keeps days short and starts early before the sun gets brutal. Expect two solid day trips outside the city (Samaipata and the sand dunes at Lomas de Arena) bookending a slower city stretch built around markets, plazas, and a break from the heat midweek.
